HORMOZ SHARIAT, Ph.D.
Hormoz is an Iranian Muslim convert who came to Christ while a graduate student in the United States. After completing his PhD in Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California, he moved to Northern California to work as a Research Scientist. Meanwhile, he started a ministry to reach out to Muslim Iranians in that area. As a result, he planted several churches. The mother church in Sunnyvale, California, with over 250 members, is the largest Muslim convert church in the United States. As this ministry grew, he answered a call from the Lord, and after completing his BA in Bible and Theology, entered into full-time ministry. He founded Iran Alive Ministries (IAM) in 2000 in order to reach out to 100 million Persian speaking people worldwide. Right after 9/11 terrorist attack in 2001, he started a satellite TV ministry to impact the closed country of Iran with the power of the Gospel. Currently IAM is broadcasting 28 hours of Christian programs a week through satellite covering Middle East and Europe. Over 1000 Muslims are coming to Christ every week through these broadcasts and over 250,000 have made such decision since their first broadcast in 2001. Hormoz is married and has three children. He has been interviewed on “The 700 Club” (CBN), ABC, Daystar TV Network, and by media such as Christianity Today, Charisma Magazine, Los Angeles Times, and the USA Radio Network. He has been called “The Billy Graham of Iran” by Joel Rosenberg in his latest book, “Inside the Revolution”. He can be contacted by calling 408.732.5050.
